“La Laja” is a rural lodge owned by a peasant family. Their project seeks, through ecotourism and community photo trapping, to preserve the great variety of fauna and flora that lives with them within Chingaza Natural Park.

The Spectacle bear (Tremactosornatu) is clearly one of the highlight species. Its specific distribution is limited to Andean, Sub-Andean and Páramo forest areas; it´s the only South American bear; and it also plays an important ecological function as a seed disperser, predator and pollinator.

Additionally, “La Laja” and Chingaza Natural Park nest a great variety of important orchid, bird and mammal species of the country.
